Day 36 (26 May) – Cape
Leveque
Today at lunch we met some nice people from Melbourne - Matt and Zara. Last night we met some nice people
in the safari tent next to us. Brian and
Peta are from Sydney and we spent most of the evening sitting on their deck
talking. During the night it got very
windy. We started off with all the tent
flaps open until about 4am the wind got really strong and blew the fan off the
desk. Time to get up and close the
flaps. Not much sleep with the tent
bucking and the canvas flapping. We went down for a coffee this morning and
booked our take away dinner pack that we have to cook ourselves on our bbq, as
the restaurant isn’t open tonight or tomorrow night. You would think that as this place is booked
out through June and July, they would have a restaurant operating. Checked out the airstrip as a plane came in
while we were having coffee.
Back to the tent. Helen went for a walk and paddle at the eastern beach (the safe one) and I came down later just for a look. Bit hard to walk on the sand for me. Doing pretty much nothing this afternoon. “Nigella No Friends” is sitting on the step doing cross word puzzles while Nigel No Friends has a Nana Nap.
Wind has dropped now so makes it a bit more comfortable. Tomorrow we head back to Broome. It’s been nice here. The views and surrounds are stunning but the place needs a bit of maintenance money spent on it. And an infinity pool in the future, overlooking the ocean, would top it off.
Helen’s Highlights/Minnie’s
musings
Such beautiful scenery here. The
water was warmish and as the man fishing near the rocks said that he had seen a
shark I stayed very close to the shore. Very disappointed that we could not get
into Beagle Bay on the way up here due to the area being closed due to COVID.
A lot of the cliff areas are no
access due to indigenous sites and the lighthouse is only open when maintenance
needs to be done.
We were able to bring food in as
we have a fridge in the car but for the many people who hire a car to drive
here from Broome they are reliant on the restaurant here and it is closed
tonight.

Complaint of the Day
Michael – On finishing his
latest book, I offered Michael one I had finished which was very good and one I
thought he would enjoy. On opening it up he said, “The writing is too small and
the chapters are too long.” Anyway, he is enjoying it nowonce he accepted the
small print and long chapters!!!!
Helen - AM I LIVING WITH A 7
YEAR OLD????????
Also I have finished my third and
last book and I don’t have another so I will have to get one in Broome.
